Background

The site is being considered an important reference project in the Czech Republic and receives a great deal of public attention. Here we collaborated with Dekonta, a Czech company specialised in soil research and drillings.

Challenge

The challenge for iFLUX consists of executing a complete vertical characterisation and charting the dispersion of VOCI plume zones across the different layers. It is a very heterogenous soil.

Our solution

In total, 16 iFLUX cartridges were installed across a depth interval of 6 to 19 metres below ground level. An additional challenge was to adjust the samplers to the width of the measuring tube, which deviated from the standard 110mm size in Belgium. The measurement campaign started in March 2017. The exposure time of the samplers will at least be one month.
